School Based Mental Health & Student Support Services
Welcome to Mi Refugio!
La Clinica provides a range of services to students and parents in the Prince Georges County (PGC) Public School system including embedded counseling/support at four school
locations and the community-based Mi Refugio program which offers academic enhancement and wrap around support services to any PGC student.
Embedded School Services
La Clinica provides dedicated, on-site, mental health counseling services at Overlook Full Spanish Immersion, Phyllis E. Williams Spanish Immersion, University Park, and Vansville elementary schools. Clinicians work daily with school administration at each location to coordinate clinical counseling for identified students as part of the school day.
Each school clinician works in tandem with a Family Support Worker who assists both parents and students to access additional services including education, care coordination, and access to community-based resources.
Mi Refugio Emotional Wellness Program
Mi Refugio is a community-based support program offering culturally responsive youth development services. The program supports students facing challenges related to migration, trauma, acculturation, or family stress through wrap-around services that include academic enhancement, education, service coordination, and skill-building.
Combined program services include:
- Mental health assessments
- Individual and family therapy
- Case management/Care cordination
- Social Skills Group interventions
- Mentoring and youth advocacy
- Family engagement and support
