For over 40 years, La Clínica del Pueblo has given quality health care to the Greater Washington, DC area. We started with the Latino and immigrant community, and today we welcome patients of all backgrounds.
La Clínica del Pueblo started in 1983. At that time, many families from Central America were coming to Washington, DC. They were fleeing violence and unrest. Community leaders and volunteers came together. They wanted these families to get care in their own language, with dignity and respect.
Latino and immigrant communities gave La Clínica its start. But our doors have always been open to everyone. From the beginning, La Clínica provided care to anyone who needed it, no matter their background.
Our region has grown and changed. So has our organization. We have added more services, locations, and programs to meet the needs of a larger and more diverse community. We serve everyone, while still holding on to the community values that shaped our early days.
Founded as a volunteer run clinic under CARECEN
