La Clínica Welcomes Carlos Plazas as New CFO & COO

La Clínica del Pueblo is pleased to announce the appointment of Carlos Plazas as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective November 30, 2023.

Carlos brings a successful track record of nearly two decades of leadership experience with nonprofit health care organizations.

“We are thrilled to welcome Carlos to our executive leadership team,” said La Clínica Executive Director Catalina Sol. “Carlos is an incredibly experienced financial and operational leader with long tenures in sister agencies in Maryland, where he has served with distinction. The breadth of his experience, coupled with his passion for La Clínica’s work and mission, will be instrumental as we embark on our next chapter.”

Carlos comes to La Clínica directly from Planned Parenthood of Maryland, where for the past nine-plus years he served as its Vice President of Finance, and for the past 6.5 years, also in the role of COO. Previously, he served as the Director of Finance at Chase Brexton, a Maryland non-profit medical center which serves 40,000 patients annually.

“I am honored to join the team at La Clínica,” Carlos shared. “La Clínica is more than a clinic and has truly set itself apart as a leader and voice for immigrant health needs. The organization has a rich history, and I am honored to help chart a future that both honors and builds upon the legacy of this unique and important organization.”

Carlos received his master’s degree in accounting and business from Towson University. He also serves on the boards of IPAS, Southeast Community Development Corporation and the Baltimore Convention & Tourism.

Carlos enjoys cooking, watching futbol (soccer), and spending time with his four daughters, two in middle school and two of the furry variety.
