HEALTH PROMOTER

WHAT IS A HEALTH PROMOTER?

La Clínica’s health promoters are public health workers who have an understanding and trust within the community they serve. This relationship of trust allows Promoters to serve as a link between social/health services and the community.

Some of the activities carried out by the promoters include; community outreach, individual and group health education, social support and advocacy.

Trainings

Health promoters receive more than 36 hours of training. During these training workshops, we learn and strengthen six basic competencies: collective learning, community mobilization, group facilitation, data collection, ethics and institutional procedures. Additionally, continuing education sessions focus on health promotion, LGBTQ health, sexual and reproductive health, gender and health, and advocacy.
