La Clínica del Pueblo Announces Leadership Transition

Longtime public health leader Catalina Sol to step down as La Clínica del Pueblo's Executive Director at the end of 2023

La Clínica del Pueblo announced today that Executive Director Catalina Sol will be stepping down from her role at year’s end after 25 years of service.

For more than two decades, Catalina has helped build the foundation of La Clínica. Her journey began interpreting for patients and has included various roles during the organization’s growth from a volunteer-run free clinic into a Federally-Qualified Health Center (FQHC), including the past five years as Executive Director.

“I feel unbelievably fortunate to have spent 25 of La Clínica’s 40 years alongside the many cohorts of dedicated staff and community leaders that have contributed to our success,” said Sol. “La Clínica is an amazing organization–a true gem for our community within this region–and I expect to witness great things from my new, external vantage point of friendship and solidarity.”

“On behalf of the board, I want to express our deep gratitude to Catalina for the dedicated service she has provided to our community,” said Board Chair Edgar Jimenez. “In addition to her monumental contributions over the past 25 years, Catalina’s leadership carried us through an unprecedented pandemic in which the Latinx community’s health inequities were brought into stark relief. Through it all, she has shown an unwavering commitment to serving the DMV’s Latinx immigrants, who will benefit from her efforts for years to come.

"With 40 years of excellence behind us, we move into this next chapter of service with optimism.”
