La Clinica del Pueblo is an organization created under the conviction that health is a human right. The realization of this vision requires the courage to question, challenge, and name the racism against Black and Indigenous communities. As an organization that serves Latin-American immigrants, we are aware of how these systems of exclusion have also marked the history of our region and continue to contribute to the inequities within them. We recognize that as a community, within our organization and beyond, we may lack the tools and education to engage in these conversations alone, but we do assume the responsibility to speak out and build a society free of racism. Applying a racial equity lens to all public policy is one way that we can promote a sense of belonging, free from discrimination, and ensure that all can attain the highest level of health.
