How do I become a patient at La Clínica del Pueblo?
Please call 202-462-4788 on the day you would like an appointment. La Clínica can not schedule advance appointments for new patients. Walk-ins are also welcome. La Clínica provides a few appointments for new patients each day. New patients are encouraged to call at midday to secure one of these appointments. If there are no appointments available, you will be transferred to the Intake Worker. Please leave your name, date of birth, and telephone number, so a worker can return your call and provide an update about available appointments.

What happens after I make an appointment?
When you attend your first appointment at La Clínica, you should arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment time. You will meet with an intake specialist who will help you enroll as a patient. Please bring a photo ID, current insurance cards, proof of the residence (i.e. bill) and proof-of income. Proof of income includes paystubs for the last several months, and your most recent tax forms. If you have questions about other forms of income documentation, please call 202-462-4788.

What happens during the intake meeting?
At intake, the worker will tell you about your rights and responsibilities at a patient at La Clínica. He will also collect information for the sliding fee scale used by patients at La Clínica. This information is used to determine the discount rate for which you are eligible. The intake specialist can also help you apply for the DC Alliance health plan or other forms of insurance. The intake specialist also has information about other services at La Clínica.

What happens during my appointment?
Your first health appointment will be about 40 minutes long. You will meet with the Patient Care Coordinator first, and then the Doctor. They will complete a physical exam, and talk with you about your health history and current health needs. This is your time to talk about questions and concerns you have about your health. You might have a blood sample taken, and the Doctor will ask you to make an appointment to talk about the results of blood labs and any treatment or medication that you received during this appointment.

What do I do after the appointment?
Before leaving La Clínica, you will checkout with the billing specialist. The billing specialist will help you set up your next appointment and check your insurance. If you are uninsured, this is the place where you pay for the visit.

If I am already a patient at La Clínica, how do I get an appointment?
The best way to make an appointment with your doctor is to call La Clínica at 202-462-4788. The receptionist will help you make an appointment.
