About Us
La Clinica del Pueblo is a non-profit, federally qualified health center that serves the Latino and immigrant populations of the Washington, DC metro area. Our mission is to provide culturally appropriate health services to persons in the Latino community regardless of their ability to pay.
Client Population:
• 86% of La Clínica's clients are Latino immigrants from Central and South America; 55% are originally from El Salvador.
• More than 90% have incomes below the poverty level.
•75% receive some form of public assistance; 25% have no insurance at all.
• More than 50% have less than a seventh grade education.
• Over 90% are most comfortable communicating in Spanish.
• 77% of La Clínica's clients live in the District of Columbia; 19% live in Maryland; and 4% live in northern Virginia.
• 62% are female; 20% are under the age of twenty.
